Jason Watt, CD, CLU®, RHU™ - CEO & Instructor
Jason Watt is a full-time instructor at Business Career College, and before this he served in the Canadian Forces. He has taught at the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre and the Canadian Forces Peace Support Training Centre. Jason has also served overseas on four operations with the Canadian Armed Forces.
Jason is active in his community, and serves on the boards of the South Alberta Light Horse Regimental Association, McLeod Community League and the Advocis Edmonton Chapter. He provides volunteer financial coaching services to program participants at the Centre to End all Sexual Exploitation, and is engaged in an effort to bring a pro bono financial planning model to Canada.
Bob Watt, EPC™ - Director of Instruction Services
Bob brings over 35 years of sales, marketing, management and training experience in the financial services industry to Business Career College. In addition to developing new courses, Bob spends much of his time in the classroom. Bob is part owner and Director of Instruction Services of Business Career College.
In Bob’s first year in the financial services industry he finished among the top ten percent of new agents in a leading Canadian life insurance company. By his third year in the business Bob had achieved the Million Dollar Round Table level of production. Bob went on to lead his province in group insurance sales for two years. This hard work and dedication led to the position of Northern Alberta regional manager for a Canadian life insurance company. Bob subsequently began a partnership in his own agency.
Students have the benefit of Bob’s experience; in a career spanning three decades Bob has been in the shoes of a new agent and has also trained, developed, mentored, and coached. HLLQP, continuing education and Elder Planning Counselor™ are Bob’s specialties. He has practical experience with mutual funds and branch compliance along with Certified Financial Planner® certification courses, Chartered Life Underwriter® designation program courses and Fellow, Life Management Institute® courses.
Bob holds the Elder Planning Counselor™ (EPC™) designation.
Penny Watt, EPC™ - Director of Business Development
Penny is responsible for developing relationships with new students and providing ongoing support to current students. Penny values a strong rapport with our students and always goes the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction.
Prior to joining the Business Career College in 2003 Penny worked in various nursing roles in the health services industry. Penny has also worked in the telecommunications industry as a long-distance operator.
Penny holds the Elder Planning Counselor™ (EPC™) designation.
Adam Schacter, CFP®, CIM®, EPC™ - Instructor
Adam is a part time instructor with Business Career College. He currently teaches our FPSC Approved Capstone Course to help prospective financial planners in their quest to achieve the CFP designation.
Adam has become a respected and well-known source of financial advice and information in the Ottawa area and throughout Ontario. He embarked on his career in financial services and investment advice in 2007. Adam attained the designation of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® in June 2010 from the Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC). Adam also attained the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation in March 2013 from the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI). In September 2014, Adam obtained his Elder Planning Counselor (EPC) designation.
Adam grew up in Ottawa, Ontario and has had the privilege of extensive travel. He is an avid runner, cyclist and sports enthusiast. Adam currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Hillel Lodge Foundation - a long term care facility and service that he deems is essential to the long-term well-being of our community.
Kelly Brewer, BA - Director of Marketing
Kelly makes sure our students have the information they need to make the best decisions for their education.
Before joining the Business Career College team, Kelly worked in customer service, training and management roles in the hospitality sector. He remains interested in cooking outside of a professional capacity and enjoys playing the guitar and banjo.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Alberta with a History major and Scandinavian Studies minor. During his studies, Kelly focused on modern Western history with interest in environmental history, human migrations and the history of science, technology and ideas.
Omar Farhat, MA – Office Coordinator
Omar manages the day to day administration of the college including the staff, facilities and general operations.
Omar brings a wealth of experience to Business Career College with wide exposure managing customer service and call center teams, marketing, retail financial products, credit risk and development projects. He has been a very active volunteer, creating organizations and campaigning for public awareness about civil liberties. Omar is interested in the history of the Middle East and Europe and enjoys reading 20th century fiction, specifically the works of writers from developing countries. He has also traveled extensively and is an aspiring cook interested in Italian and Lebanese cuisine.
Omar holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration from the American University of Beirut, with a focus on Organizational Development.
Maria Nguyen, BComm – Administrator, Projects
Maria works with management and our instructors in building success for the business as a whole. She works on a variety of projects depending on business needs, growth strategy and external factors.
Maria began working in her family business at a young age and went on to start her own business as a makeup artist. She has travelled extensively and backpacked in Europe. Maria enjoys playing rugby, fashion, photography and reading.
Maria has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta with majors in Accounting and Finance.
Marjorie Lewis - Receptionist
Marjorie is the receptionist for our main phone lines and the first person most of our students have the pleasure of speaking with. She handles most incoming questions and bookings for our exams.
Marjorie worked in customer service for over ten years with a leading newspaper before joining BCC.
Marjorie has a Certificate in Medical Reception from Bathurst Collegiate.
Steven provides guidance and support for our students throughout their time with BCC.
Steven brings a wealth of experience in formal and informal education centres, ranging from a classroom teacher in Middle and High schools to an on-site educator and administrator at historical and science-focused sites throughout the greater Edmonton area. He has been involved in sports from a very young age, playing hockey, while also enjoying football, basketball, golf, and mountain biking.
Steven has a Bachelor of Secondary Science from the University of Alberta specializing in Social Studies and Biology. His studies were focused on the global political structure and Canada’s role within that structure, as well as a heavy focus on world and Canadian history.
Rose handles registrations and ensures that our students start their studies on the right foot. She also tracks student performance and maintains our records.
Rose brings over 25 years of award winning administrative experience to BCC. She enjoys music, music festivals, cooking, camping, Zumba, golf and her vegetable garden.
Rose has completed 2 certification programs through NAIT.
Anthony is responsible for the development and maintenance of our electronic systems, including our learning platforms and records databases.
Anthony brings a variety of work experience to BCC. He is very interested in anime and video games and is a big fan of music, including many varieties of metal.
Anthony has a Bachelor of Science from MacEwan University with a Major in Computer Science.
